The only place I’m not using it is the kitchen island where I have a built-in island made of particleboard that I use as my island base. I like it because the board does a great job of separating the island from the rest of the room and the base supports the island like a wall.
If I had to pick something to use as a base, it would probably be particleboard. It doesn’t take up a lot of space and I can lay it out to make it look nice. The only issue with particleboard is that it tends to warp and break over time.
The other issue with particleboard is that if you were to add lots of different sizes to it, it would have to hold all the different sizes of cabinets. On the other hand, it keeps a nice flat surface and is very useful when you want to display a picture on the wall.
I’ve been using particleboard as a base for a few different things, and I love it for that reason. Its also very easy to paint and I like that it doesn’t warp and break over time. I have one problem though, the kitchen island is not flat, so the cabinets go against the grain. The cabinets have to go up against the counter and there are no support pillars for the cabinets.
