By With the arrival of the new arts center at the westside’s new new yorks, the flagship art installation now has a new purpose: to serve as a place to enjoy and learn about new and innovative art. There are three levels of self-awareness: the viewer, the viewer’s self, and the viewer’s community, as well as a whole level of community self-awareness.
I think one of the biggest complaints about the new arts center was its lack of a community-focused design. For the most part, it’s one big blank canvas, and it doesn’t seem to really connect to any of the people who live here. It could have built some sense of community around the art installation, but it just doesn’t seem to have.
I say this as a lifelong arts center fan. I know that its a big deal to have a new, state-of-the-art facility that has the potential to transform the way we look at the arts, and one of the biggest reasons I love the new arts center is that its part of a bigger vision. The arts center is part of a much larger plan to make New York City an even more livable city for everyone.
I was really excited to see the work that was done to upgrade the arts center, but I feel that it is underutilized. The work done by the artists, staff, and volunteers was very impressive, but it wasn’t enough to make a big difference. I was even more disappointed because the new arts center is located at a location of a high-rise building. I think the arts center should be located in a neighborhood with a little more walkability.
I agree. The arts center is part of a really important project that has the potential to make NYC a better place for all of us, and I am glad that the effort was spent here. But, I feel that the arts center is underused in New York City. I wish I could have been around to see the renovation.
The Arts Center is located in a high-rise building that was built in the 1960s. I’m sure the architects were thinking, “If this is going to be a big enough building, we need to have a large hall in there so the artwork can move in as well and get more exposure.” While this may be a good idea in some respects, I don’t think that a large hall would be an attractive feature in a high-rise building.

The architect on the New York Arts Center’s design has been accused of being an accomplice to the building’s owners in a potential fraud on the part of those owners. That’s a serious accusation because the same architect designed the building before it was sold to the owners, and it might be the case that this architects’ design is just that bad. It’s so poor that it will be the first building the city will tear down, so it’s a good thing they did it now.
the architect, the owners, and the city can all agree that the building is an absolute disgrace, and any other building they are putting up in the same area could have a worse design. However, the fact remains that this architect did not design the entire building, and he did not design this specific building. I have no idea what the city architect was thinking, but it sure as hell wasn’t this architect.
