By this is the first year I have painted portraits and I really liked doing it. I found the process to be a bit challenging because the portrait had to be a portrait of myself. I was hoping to do something unique, but when I started painting I was still not sure what that was. I knew I wanted to paint something specific about myself. I found it interesting and a bit daunting that I was trying to paint a portrait of myself.
Painting a portrait of yourself is a bit like painting a portrait of a painting, because it’s about trying to capture your style as much as it is about capturing the essence of your subject. I do think that my portrait is a bit generic, but I do think it is a bit original.

I can’t seem to capture the essence of many of my subjects though, so it’s like I’m trying to capture everything about them.

The watercolor painting portrait format is a bit like the old fashion watercolor. For a start, it’s not as water-soluble as a portrait. Instead, it’s used to hold watercolor fluid that has been exposed to light. To make the painting visible to the viewer, the paint has to be left exposed to light for hours or days. (I did this with a piece I did several years ago.) This can make it a bit challenging to get right.
I have had lots of fun with watercolor painting portraits over the years, so I would say it definitely has its place. To be honest though, I’m not a fan of the format myself, as it is much more labor-intensive to get a good likeness than a painting. The one I did was pretty long, so I started to get bored with it, so I stopped.
I like watercolor paintings. You don’t have to worry about being able to get the color right on the canvas and it doesn’t take a lot of patience. You can just let the water run for hours until it is time to paint and it will come out beautiful.
It is also a lot more cost effective, and the one I did was about $400, which is a great price. It is also a great thing not to have to worry about a painter getting the color just right (this can be a difficult thing to do).
I think watercolor is still one of the best choices for portraits because it is often painless and quick. The only thing you need to worry about is the pigments, and even then you don’t need to use a ton of them.
One of my favorite things about watercolor painting is that it is a great way for people to practice their hand skills. The fact that the paint sticks and stays on the surface is a huge bonus. I love that I can easily change the brush, tone it, and wash it in the sink without worrying that I’m going to ruin it. I was also amazed at how quickly I was able to paint this portrait.
