By It’s hard to write a letter to someone that you barely know! It usually isn’t until you are in your forties that a person will write a letter to you. Now, at that time, you can usually read off a list of things that you like and things that you don’t like. It just takes that long to write a letter to a former lover.
I’ve written a bunch of letters to people I’ve never even met – some I’ve never even heard of – and I am a total bitch at it. I know that writing a letter to a person you’ve never met can seem like a very selfish act, but I can’t help it. I just love the feel of a handwritten note on a piece of paper. It reminds me of those old school letter books and letters that are always sent out to people we know.
I’ve been doing it for a long time now, and I do it mostly for the nostalgia. I’ve been on more than one mailing list where people receive letters that are like a quick “Hey, I remember you… I miss you.” Even though I never met them, I feel like I know them better than a thousand people. It’s nice to have someone write you that you don’t know, that you can’t imagine what they’ve been through.
I think it is more difficult to write a letter than it is to send a text message. We can choose to think of email as a way to keep in touch with people, but it is also a way for people to keep in touch with other people. I don’t know why anyone would want to write a letter, but it’s probably not as difficult as talking to someone on a phone.
The only reason why you would ever want to write a letter to someone is if you’re worried that you’re not going to be able to get in touch with them. If you’re worried that your ex is going to be mad at you, you’re probably not going to want to write a letter.
Writing a letter to someone, whether it’s your parents, your siblings, someone you grew up with or even someone who you’re planning on dating, is a great way to communicate with them. But it is also a great way to get yourself in contact with people you may not be able to get in touch with when you’re in the midst of an awkward break up.
For some people, a letter is a way to get them back, but for others, it is a way to get them in touch with someone, so in that sense it can be both.
In our own case, we wrote a letter to our ex, and the letter itself was really thoughtful and thought-provoking. For starters, we were writing it as a way to apologize for some things that had happened in the past. We were also writing it to give her a chance to have a relationship with us that wasn’t as awkward as it could be.
We’re all so busy and so focused on our jobs and careers, so what if we could spend more time with the people we love, or with our friends and family? It just might take the sting out of all that busyness and focus.
That was actually a good perspective to take on our first letter of apology. And as if that wasn’t enough, we got a letter in return. It was a beautiful note from your sister. But if we didn’t get one in return, then we didn’t get one at all. That’s why.
